Global Human Capital Trends 2020 - Deloitte's Annual Report

Posted by Mathew French on 18 June 2020

Every year, Deloitte conducts an extensive study on the emerging and prevailing trends in human capital and the future of work. Each year, the post we write on our HR blog about that report is always one of the most popular. In 2020, the Human Capital Trends Report highlights an intensifying combination of economic, social, and political issues impacting HR and business leaders. These factors continue to put pressure on businesses to operate in a more socially oriented manner (a continuation of 2019's trend, which we covered in a previous HR blog post), and to reinvent their organisations around a more ethical and human focus. Let's take a look at the highlights of this year's report and discover the HR metrics that matter in 2020 and beyond.

The Digital Transformation Of HR

Posted by Mathew French on 12 June 2018

Digital transformation isn't just ubiquitous, it is ultimately unavoidable and quickly being absorbed into HR best practice. Twenty years from now, few aspects of the world of work will have escaped the digital revolution. But what exactly does it mean for HR, and how can such transformation be successfully implemented, both within the HR department and organisation wide? What we're really talking about here is a change management process. A process which HR Professionals and business leaders are often being called on to execute in a new and constantly shifting context. Not since the third Industrial Revolution has there been such a significant change in the way we work, meaning that lived experience of this type of quantum leap in workplace practices simply don't exist in boardrooms and leadership teams. That's why resources such as i-Scoop's 'Online Guide To Digital Business Transformation' are so valuable. The guide offers a highly educational deep dive into what digital transformation is, what it requires of businesses, and how to implement such transformation successfully.

HR Software Case Study: Cloud HR Software Success Story

Posted by Mathew French on 9 May 2017

Business is changing, and your HR and recruitment should be at the forefront of this change. If your business is still reliant on paper-based systems, and many man-hours of administration, then you have a lot of options for improvement. But despite what your gut might tell you, change can be both quick and painless. Take Premier Technologies for example. An Australian owned and operated Cloud IT Contact Centre Provider, they would be classed as a medium sized business with 60 full-time employees. Premier Technologies wanted their HR, Processes and Systems updated, and Subscribe-HR's People Management Cloud Software was used to do this. From Talent sourcing to Employee Onboarding and Payroll integration.

Which HR Trends Matter To Your Business In 2017?

Posted by Mathew French on 19 January 2017

At this time of year, there are a lot of articles floating around which profess to know the top trends for HR during the coming year. Sometimes these articles are valid (and backed up by a significant amount of data), and sometimes there is a lot of crystal ball gazing going on. Ultimately, it is becoming more and more difficult to accurately predict future HR trends, however, there are a few annual reports that warrant investigation. One of those reports is Deloitte's annual Human Capital Trends report. The 2016 offering outlines the opinions and perspectives of 7,000 HR and business leaders. That's a significant amount of data gathered from a global cohort, so it is worthwhile taking a look at the picture those 7,000 respondents painted about the likely short and long-term future of business from the HR perspective.

Core-HR ROI: Manual Versus Automated

Posted by Mathew French on 5 February 2015

Managing the procedures and processes required during the entire lifecycle of each and every employee is quite a complicated process, especially in Australia due to the legal and regulatory requirements.

Despite the availability of cost effective solutions like Cloud, SaaS Human Resource Management Software, many organisations, including those with 1000+ employees, still use Excel spreadsheets to complete the majority of their Core-HR requirements.

e-Recruitment ROI: Manual Versus Automated

Posted by Mathew French on 29 January 2015

Recruitment is an increasingly big data process. However, we're constantly surprised when we hear reports, such as those that Software Advice shared with us in our recent Payroll tech trends Blog, about the continued reliance on Excel amongst HR Professionals. According to their study many HR Professionals are still recruiting for candidates with advanced Excel skills. This implies that many organisations are still running their HR procedures and processes off spreadsheets. Not only is this inefficient, but it really isn't cost effective at all. Many organisations still believe that the price of HR software is prohibitive, however, given the changes that Cloud technology has enabled in the HR software space, when you look at the numbers, it's actually more costly to your organisation to not be using a Cloud based, SaaS solution to enhance the performance of your HR team.
