Position Description - Your Organisation: DevOps Engineer

Reporting to the CTO, the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for building functional systems that improve business efficiency and customer experience. In this role, you will manage infrastructure projects and processes. Responsibilities include identifying production issues, deploying product updates, and implementing integrations to meet customer needs. Keen attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a solid knowledge base are essential. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to execute and automate operational processes quickly, accurately and securely.

Specific responsibilities for the DevOps Engineer include:

  • Work directly with the IT team and CTO to test system integrity.

  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management.

  • Document and design new processes and update existing processes.

  • Improve infrastructure development and application development.

  • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning.

  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations.

  • Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards.

  • Handle code deployments and fixes in all environments.

  • Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience.

  • Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems.

  • Perform root cause analysis for production errors.

  • Investigate and resolve technical issues; design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Develop scripts to automate visualisation.

  • Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects.

  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve.

  • Follow all best practices and procedures as established by 'Your Organisation.'

DevOps Engineer - Your Organisation: Qualifications

The DevOps Engineer will have a minimum of 2 years’ previous experience in development and operations, or a related IT, computer, or operations field. You will be a team player with a passion for efficiency, an appetite for learning, and a commitment to teamwork. The DevOps Engineer will possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, software engineering, or related field.

  • Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations.

  • Experience with Linux infrastructures, database SQL (MS SQL), CI/CD tools, scripting such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, .NET, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agile workflow methodologies.

  • Good interpersonal skills and the capacity to communicate effectively with all levels of management.

  • Able to prioritise and manage time efficiently.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a forensic eye for errors.

  • Up-to-date on the latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently.
