Position Description - Your Organisation: Financial Planner

Reporting to the management team, the Financial Planner is responsible for ensuring that clients make wise and profitable decisions to meet their financial goals. You will be our clients' trusted advisor in areas including investments, cash flow, savings and debt management. This is a relationship management position, and you must be able to connect authentically with clients in order for them to continue to trust you with their long-term financial health. This role is perfect for an analytical, meticulous and customer-oriented individual.

Specific responsibilities for the Financial Planner include:

  • Providing input to the leadership team on business development and strategic issues as they arise.

  • Collaborating with other Financial Planners to originate and organise new business development initiatives and customer acquisition strategies.

  • Engaging senior management and department heads to align financial management with short- and long-term planning and projections.

  • Defining and ensuring adherence to 'Your Organisation's' standards and best practices for providing financial advice.

  • Analysing clients’ financial statuses (e.g. income, expenses and liabilities) and advising of financial opportunities (e.g. insurance plans, investments).

  • Developing financial plans and budgets for clients and customising them according to clients’ changing needs.

  • Helping clients implement their plans and carry out transactions.

  • Building strong relationships to retain existing clients and consistently building your client portfolio.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of regulations, practices and financial products.

Financial Planner - Your Organisation: Qualifications

The Financial Planner will have a minimum of 5 years’ previous experience as a Financial Planner in a similar organisation. You will be a team player with a passion for efficiency, an appetite for learning, and a commitment to teamwork. The Financial Planner will possess the following experience and attributes:

  • BSc/BA in accounting, finance, business administration or relevant field; professional certification (e.g. CPA) is a plus, MBA (preferred).

  • Certified Financial Planner credentials.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse financial information and provide advice that complies with regulations.

  • Digitally literate with proficiency in MS Office, CRM, accounting, as well as other financial and business management applications.

  • Strong ethics, with a customer-oriented attitude.

  • Able to analyse problems and strategise to formulate better solutions.

  • Forensic eye for detail, strong maths skills, and the capacity to prioritise and manage time effectively.

  • Creative problem solver who thrives when presented with a challenge.

  • Good interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Up-to-date on the latest industry trends; able to articulate trends and potential clearly and confidently.
