Position Description - Your Organisation: Product Manager

Reporting to the CTO, the Product Manager is responsible for guiding the entire product development lifecycle by translating product research and strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes. Through cross-functional collaboration, the Product Manager will ensure that all product development activities (enhancements to current product, or development of new product/s) generate buy-in for the product vision, both internally, and with key external partners. The Product Manager also takes the lead on developing product pricing and positioning strategies.

Specific responsibilities for the Product Manager include:

  • Identifying and filling product gaps, as well as generating new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience, and drive growth.

  • Conducting market research to identify user needs and opportunities for product development or new products.

  • Prioritising product opportunities using criteria and requirements defined during research.

  • Collaborating with customers, team members, and external stakeholders to ensure a solid and well-rounded understanding of products and developing needs.

  • Establishing requirements and specifications for existing and new products and clearly communicating the vision and goals of these products.

  • Leading and participating in planning meetings and providing advice and guidance on the direction of product development.

  • Managing cross-functional teams in business, product, design, and engineering.

  • Working closely with software engineering to deliver quick time-to-market and optimal resourcing.

  • Creating buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners.

  • Driving product launches including working with marketing, sales, support, leadership and product management team members.

  • Demonstrating functionality of completed products to internal team members and other stakeholders.

  • Developing metrics to assess the success of products and features and determine necessary enhancements.

  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of products, solutions, and company offerings.

  • Maintaining current knowledge of product and project innovation trends, best practices and future directions.

Product Manager - Your Organisation: Qualifications

The Product Manager will have a minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in a similar role at a similar size organisation. You will possess a passion for Product Management and adherence to best practices, knowledge of agile methodologies, a focus on efficiency, an appetite for learning, and a commitment to teamwork. The Product Manager will possess the following experience and attributes:

  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred.

  • Proven work experience in product management or as an Associate Product Manager.

  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its entire lifecycle.

  • Proven ability to develop product and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management.

  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to work collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with Agile product development methodology and a track record of working directly with designers to design and iterate on products.

  • Ability to be creative, strategic, analytical, and think outside the box to solve problems.

  • Digitally literate with proficiency in MS Office, CRM, Marketing, Product and Project Management systems (and methodologies).

  • Experience in project management, budgeting, and managing teams.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills; with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with employees and external stakeholders.

  • Up-to-date with the latest Product and IT developments and best practices; able to articulate these clearly and confidently to other team members, especially junior Product Management staff.
